Four x's Crazy

So there as been a huge craze in Los Angeles with the birth of a new alcoholic beverage called Four Loko. Its a mix of malt liquor, energy juice and artificial fruit flavoring. Four Loko has about 6 or more flavors available now from Lemonade, Fruit Punch and Watermelon just to name a few. The average price is about $2.99 plus tax and personally if your looking to get faded quickly it does the trick. My brestfriend Tiff and I always says "Four Loko + 30 minutes and I'm on". My only issue with Four Loko's is they give the worst hangovers ever and I am speaking from experience. I've heard quite a few people talk badly about people who drink Four Loko's and in my opinion I could give two shits as Lil Wayne said "Don't worry about what's in my cup". I'm the type of person that likes what I like and I do what I want to do so when everyone goes right I'm in the left lane doing my own thing. Hit up your local liquor store and get a Four Loko in your life.

The Takeover of Social Networks

It is so amazing how forms of communications have changed! Once we used to talk on land lines only due to the fear of cell phones and new technology. Now talking on a land line is a thing of the past. There are now so many ways to communicate that actually are impersonal but people use them in the most personal forms ever. With the birth of Facebook and the death of Myspace in the past 2 years, and we can't forget about the uprising of Twitter, Formspring, OOVOO, Tumblr and Foursquare. And I can't forget about all my bloggers out there!!! And all my vimeo folks. Before you used to have to wait for a person to tell you what they were up to in their lives now with just a click of a button its all there on the Internet or what I like to call "The World Wide Web". It bothers me that we might not ever get back to formal communication maybe one day or is that wishful thinking. I can't sit here and act like I am not guilty of these forms of communication, I have 3 Twitter accounts, 1 Facebook page, 1 Tumblr page, 1 Formspring, about 10 email accounts and my main form of communication is texting. I know, I know very sad but I've become so turned off of the thought of talking on the phone and I'm not sure why. I guess I need to stop all that texting and pick up the phone and call some folks?? Task for today less texting more calling. Let's see how that works out for me. Here is my tribute to "Social Networking"

1997

So apparently I've been sleeping on this cat from L.A. named Dom Kennedy. I had been seeing tweets on Twitter from my boy Danny about him. So one day I clicked on a link Danny posted on Twitter regarding Dom Kennedy's video "1997" and once I saw the video I was in love. He's cute, and the song is SUPER DOPE!!!!!! This video is really on the lines of less is more. Dom Kennedy has a mixtape out called "From The Westside With Love" I strongly suggest you download it. Listen to the song closely and try and remember where you were and what you had going on in 1997.

BET Awards 2010

This years BET Awards I have to say was WAY better than that last minute fiasco they re vised after finding out Michael Jackson passed. 2010 marks the anniversary for a lot of things that happened 10 years ago. I appreciate BET for the 360 it made this year on the awards. From giving King I mean Queen Latifah the opportunity to host from Alicia Keys cuttin up with her pregnant self to Nicki Manj basically killing Little Kim's career right before our very eyes. Shout out to Young Money for taking home awards to Wezzy, I am sure he will be proud when he gets home. Prince looked amazing with his face done up receiving the "Life Time Achievement Award" and John Legend wining the "Humanitarian" award. In closing I just have to say this: Although they call it the BET Awards, there weren't that many awards giving out they should call it "BET Performs". Oh yea last but not least SHOUT OUT TO CHRIS BROWN for the resurrection of his career. Check out http://www.bet.com/ for more, fashion, scenes and interviews from the awards last night.

Rest Easy Michael Joseph Jackson

Friday June 25, 2010 marked the 1 year anniversary of the death of the world's greatest entertainer, Michael Joesph Jackson. I have always been a fan of Michael's music and I had the pleasure of attending one of his concerts back in the 80's when he performed at the Great Western Forum. When you think of Michael Jackson I am sure so many songs come to mind and although I love all of his music "Thriller" is my favorite video. Enjoy! Rest easy Michael you are truly missed.

Welcome Kalbi Burger

Los Angeles has a new burger spot to welcome, Kalbi Burger (http://kalbiburger.com/), Kalbi Burger located in Korea town on Wilshire and Wilton. Kalbi Burger is soon to be L.A.'s new hot spot, its clean, cute and so L.A. inside. Last night I stopped by because I had a dinner meeting for Junior-Prenuers and I offered Kalbi as a suggestion and everyone agreed. Kalbi has been open for a week and a half and by the looks of the way business was moving last night they are sure to be in business for a while, the setting is very posh and cute with the main decor of red and black and very hip and modern furniture. The service was great and the food was fresh and YUMMY. I ordered the Kalbi Burger combo, the burger came with american cheese, romain lettuce, Korean vinaigrette red onions, tomato and kalbi aioli sauce it was served with fries and a drink and my total was $10.92. The burger was so tasty and big, I was only able to eat half. I only waited about 5 minutes for my food to be ready and the presentation of the food was great. Kalbi burgers are made with certified natural Agus Beef and all burgers are cooked medium well unless otherwise specified. It was so neatly but together and it was just enough of the fries and the burger was enough for 2 people in my opinion. Kalbi serves a variety of burgers, hot dogs, salads, and different types of fries (salt & vinegar, garlic and chili cheese fries). Kalbi offers wi fi also, I also enjoyed eating there because its super laid backed playing some of the hottest hip hop, how can you not like a place like that. Kalbi is open Monday-Saturday from 11am-9pm, Kalbi is the perfect blend of Asian flavor twisted with the classic american burger. So welcome Kalbi Burger!!!!

We Are The Champions, My Friends & We'll Keep On Fighting Til The End

Last night was the end for the Boston Celtics and all though they have played a good series, I don't think they wanted to win as bad as the Los Angeles Lakers. With Kobe having a horrible game and giving the other players like Odom, Artest and Gasol a chance to set up the Lakers brought the Championship home again (REPEAT). Last night after the game I drove around L.A. to pick up a Laker t-shirt and WALA

Los Angeles was way to TURN'T UP last night everywhere! Although I was a little disapointed that there were fights, fires and foolishness. We are all adults and need to celebrate responsably. As we get ready for the Laker Parade lets all keep in mind to be respectful and be careful. Below are 2 of my favorite highlight clips from last night:

Just say "No" to Capitol City

Ok so on Sunday my girls and I went to "Capitol City" (www.capcitysports.com) watch game 5 of the Lakers vs. Boston series. "Capitol City" is located in Hollywood. When we first arrived there was a line that was out of this world but that was expected because Sunday's game was huge for L.A., however what wasn't expected was what my eyes saw when I walked in. This place was flooded with bad weaves, whorish clothing, men trying to floss, thugs and chicks with way to much make up on their faces. This place was packed like meat in a sausage wrapping, I mean really. All I could think was "I am going to die in here", there was no security check, no bag check NOTHING! All that was being checked was it’s and that was a joke in itself. I guess everyone likes "Capitol City" because there is no entry fee, however in my opinion there should be one maybe that would have kept the crowd to a minimum. So we walked in and that place like I said was FULL, so we headed outside and that was no better. I made that joke that this place was in violation of some sort of fire code, they had to be and I couldn't help but think "why are they still letting people in?” After staying outside for about 15-20minutes we knew it was time to get the HELL out of there! I was totally disgusted and couldn't believe that we all wasted our time and energy to be a part of that BAFOONARY! And "Capitol City" has some nerve on their website it reads "L.A.'s first upscale sports bar and lounge" are you fucken serious?!?!?! On that note I'm done!
It reminded me of this:

The Iphone 4g

So for all you phone geeks like me the Iphone 4g is set to be released soon. It really amazes me what Steve Jobs created from a Mac computer! I mean he's given us the ipod, the Mac books, the Ipad, and now what many have been waiting for the Iphone 4g. With more special features than any of the previous Iphones, this is presumed to be the best one since the Iphones original launch in 2007. Its amazing how technology has changed so much in the last 3 years. The Iphone 4g has many new features; the ability to conference call, skype, a camera with 5 megapixels and a video recorder in HD and that’s just to name a few of the features. Schedule to be released on June 24th through AT&T. Lets just take a moment to thank Steve Jobs for all that he has done for you apple lovers. I am excited for the release of the Iphone but I have to be honest, personally I would wait a while because there is always a few glitches with the 1st batch of something. But for all you guys who can’t wait the count down starts now…………………..

Young Berg ain't from California

As many of you know, rapper Young Berg has the worst luck! He has a failing music career and is always getting jacked for his jewels. We over the weekend the plot to take him out has thickened. Young Berg was having a get together in his home in the Hollywood Hills, when 2 men and 2 women broke in and held everyone up! Stealing money from everyone who was there and of course taking yet another one of Young Bergs chains. Sheesh, this guy really needs to go back to his home town and if he was really born and raised in Cali he needs to find a new home town. I guess Goons have Goon-ettes!

LAX is getting that Beyonce Jay-Z UPGRADE

We are not sure if you all know or not, but LAX is getting an UPGRADE. Over the next 3 years there will be construction and confusion all over LAX. As a traveler I am so not looking forward to this because I don't shop in airports or really care about what’s going on, I am more concerned with my gate and if my flight is leaving on time. Stephanie thinks the upgrade is great and hopes they get valet service. This upgrade will include the following:

Expansion of the Tom Bradley Terminal

9 Gates will be reconstructed

2 Concourses with larger passenger lounges

And larger custom and immigration facilities

This project will employ about 4,000 construction works and I am sure raise taxes in California, this project is estimated to cost 1.5 Billion. LAX is the worlds 6th busiest airport and recently LAX received low marks in an airline passenger survey. We hope this all works out! If not at least they tried and we have a song to remember this upgrade by:

Break Up and Stay That Way

I have noticed that a lot of adults break up and keep in contact with their ex??? Where they do that at?? I always figured being friends with an ex was a privilege especially if you break up on bad terms. Aren't adults to old to break up and go back in forth, shouldn't we be at the age where breaking up is a bit ridiculous I mean adults can work things out right??... I came across this and I thought it would be helpful to all of those who are struggling with getting over a break up; here are 10 tips to help you:

1. Avoid the Friend Zone- when it's over, it's over! There is no such thing as being friends with your ex right away. In time, you can be friends but take the time you need to heal! No phone calls, no random late night sleepovers because "I miss you". Stay strong and avoid contact for at least 90 days!

2. Reject the Negative Stupor- if you've already done your crying or had your fit of anger, let it be done! On those nights when you're feeling lonely or sad, don't wallow in it, get up and go somewhere! Go to a restaurant and have a drink, go rent a movie, hit the gym, hook up with some friends. Whatever it is, catch yourself before falling into the abyss of sadness.

3. Do Not Get Drunk and Dial- alcohol and a cell phone are the perfect elixir for a disaster! Getting drunk and calling your ex to ask all the questions you think you want to know the answers to "do you miss me?" or "have you been seeing anybody else?". You might not be prepared for the answer or attitude on the other end of the phone saying "take your drunk ass to bed". This is never good. Remove the numbers from your phone to avoid these kind of nights.

4. Refrain from Random Sex- finding a "jump-off" or void filler is nothing more than a quick fix that doesn't help you in the grand scheme of things. Furthermore, why pass the pain that you're feeling on to someone else? Nobody wins. Take the time you need to heal; jumping into a fling immediately after a break up is not healthy and likely ends up being a waste of time.

5. Switch It Up- go through your house and rearrange your furniture, especially in the bedroom. Move your bed to another corner or switch up the entire layout of your living room! You can take it a step further and paint a room or two a different color. This helps refresh your attitude and enhances the desire to turn a new leaf.

6. Refresh Your Bed- Burn some incense, turn the mattress over, get rid of sheets, buy a new comforter! The bed is where your mind and body should be at rest and it's extremely difficult to do so when you've shared your bed with your ex. If you rearrange your sleep space and refresh your bed, you should rest much easier.

7. Learn the Lesson- you should always take some time and evaluate the 5 W's: who, what, where, when and why and also how. What did you do to contribute to your relationship failing? Where was your head, in the clouds, in denial, numb? When did you finally realize it was over? Why did it end? What have you learned and how will you apply what you've learned to your next relationship?

8. Do You- after a break up it's so easy to get lost in your sadness and let yourself go. Just because you no longer have a girlfriend don't veg on the PS3, drink heavily and fail to get your line up. Ladies, don't let your nails and toes suffer and develop a habit of eating ice cream in the bed every night! Go to the barber! Go to the salon! Go get your mani/pedi! Hit the gym harder! Be better, not bitter!

9. Get Over It- rid your place of all things ex! Don't hoard personal items like his basketball shorts you like to wear or her sweater she used to wear around the house that you occasionally sniff. Let it all go! If weeks have passed and he/she has yet to retrieve their items, toss them! Or put them in a box and tuck it away.

10. Surround Yourself with Love- there are people that love you regardless of your hardships. So don't be too proud to reach out to them and let them know you need them. If it's your siblings, other family members or your best friends you can never have enough support through your transition.

A break up is never a walk in the park but if you have the right attitude and the right people around you it can make your transition to the single life much smoother and less lonely!

Food Truck Fantasy

Food trucks in California are the new phenomenon and these are not just any food trucks, these are the who's who and the what's what of food trucks. These trucks rang from burgers and fries to your most unusual grilled cheese sandwich. According to a website called Mobile Cravings http://www.mobilecravings.com/foodtruckfinder/los-angeles/, there is a list of the top 10 food trucks in Los Angeles, CA. Stephanie had been obsessed with trying one of these food truck in particular, last week she attempted to go to the 1st Annual LA Street Food Fest. Unfortunately her attempt was unsuccessful do to the sudden interest in food trucks the turn out for the food fest was higher than expected. With the wait to enter the food fest longer than 30 minutes Stephanie decided to leave. So since the food fest Stephanie has been obsessed with getting a hold of The Buttermilk Truck http://buttermilktruck.com/, (which is rated #3 in LA) specializing in breakfast favorites like chicken and waffles and breakfast sandwiches and new favorites like red velvet pancake bites to Hawaiian bread French toast sticks. Luckily for Stephanie The Buttermilk Truck was out last night and serving up their late night menu in Culver City. If any of you know Stephanie like I know her you know she is a sucker for food, she bought everything The Buttermilk Truck sold except for please and come again (hahahaha). In her defense though she did by some food for me ( a whole lot of food) and she bought us both T-Shirts (woooohooo and thank you).

Stephanie spent $70.00 last night on the food at first I could understand why but then I did the math, so here it is: 2 shirts at $15.00 each = $30.00 and then 12 food items at about $3.40 each gives you the $70.00. Wooooooooooow! Stephanie got us one of everything and that was a lot of food, but I must say I enjoyed it. Stephanie fav's were the pancake bites, red velvet mini pancakes and she would have liked the biscuit sandwich but she didn't care of the way the egg was cooked. I liked all three of those items too and I liked the chicken and waffle, the chicken was seasoned very well which is a plus because a lot of people don't know how to fry chicken. I am sure now Stephanie's obsession with The Buttermilk Truck has been complete and I am sure the next time we go she won't order so much but then again I am talking about Stephanie. Hahaha! If you are interested in where The Buttermilk Truck will be next follow them on Twitter www.twitter.com/ButtermilkTruck.

Stay tuned for our next update, if you are interested in what we are doing next and can't wait will you'll just have too! Drop us a line at weareallovercali@gmail.com. Until next time, See ya! All over Cali that is!
